Mark runs up an impressive fundraising total

Staff at Sheldon Bosley Knight came out in force to support commercial director Mark Treadwell as he finished a month-long charity fundraiser.

Mark was taking part in Prostate Cancer Research’s Run 60 Miles in April campaign to raise vital funds as well as awareness and for the charity and the work it does.

On one of the hottest days of the year so far, custodians Dan Jackson and Mike Cleary ran alongside Mark as he completed the final four miles in an impressive 40 minutes and 32 seconds.

The Run 60 Miles in April event saw Mark raise an incredible £2,152 (and counting) for the charity which aims to advance ground-breaking research and treatments as well as improving the quality of life for patients and their families.

It is a cause close to Mark’s heart and he’s delighted, if not exhausted, to have taken part.

He said: “Thank you to the entire Sheldon Bosley Knight team for encouraging and supporting me along the way and for coming out en masse for the final leg.

“Over the 30 days of the month I did 19 runs including the grand finale in Leamington. The latter being in the hottest conditions of the year to date at a punishing pace set by guest pacesetter Joe Breen.

“The toughest part was running past an ice cream truck in Victoria Park without stopping. Not wanting to take any chances, we made sure everyone was really well rehydrated afterwards in The Royal Pug on Regent Street.

“Although raising the money was an important part of this challenge, my main aim was to raise awareness and encourage all men to get themselves checked. It’s one of those cancers where the sooner you find it the better your chances of recovery.”

Sheldon Bosley Knight custodians Mike Cleary and Dan Jackson said: “It was very hot, but a lovely way to help Mark complete the challenge by running through the parks of Leamington.

“As a surprise for Mark we enlisted lots of colleagues to support, either by cheering him on or running alongside him – as well as ensuring there were plenty of beers to cool us down at the finish line.

“It is typical for Mark to do something like this – he’s one of the best and we are only too delighted to support him in this worthy cause.”
