Members of our lettings team were out in force at a forum dedicated to supporting landlords in Warwickshire.
Lettings director Rebecca Dean was one of the keynote speakers at the event which took place at the SYDNI Centre in Leamington on Wednesday, May 14.
She spoke about the importance of rent guarantee schemes such as the one offered to Sheldon Bosley Knight’s landlords – Homelet.
Although under no legal obligation to take out any form of insurance to protect themselves, Rebecca told delegates it is a no brainer for landlords to cover themselves for loss of rent and other emergencies, especially during times of fiscal uncertainty.
Rent guarantee and legal expenses cover is an optional protection which forms part of Sheldon Bosley Knight’s full management service. It offers peace of mind to landlords in the unfortunate event a tenant defaults on their rent or there is a breach of tenancy.
With the changes to the private rental sector proposed by the Renters’ Rights Bill which is currently going through Parliament, she said it was important for landlords to have the added protection of such a scheme.
Organised by Warwick and Stratford district councils and the Landlord Steering Group, the Landlord Forum was a chance for landlords across the county to come together, network and listen to speakers talk on a variety of pertinent subjects.
Delegates heard from representatives from the National Residential Landlords Association, Propertymark and Warwick district council’s housing officer about the changes to HMO licensing.
Rebecca said: “I was delighted to be asked to speak at this year’s Landlord Forum.
“This is a challenging time for all those involved in the private rental sector, not least given the changes proposed within the Renters’ Rights Bill.
“All the lettings teams at Sheldon Bosley Knight are here to help those who need advice or support in navigating their way through.”
