A student from Warwick has been learning all about varied careers in land and property from our teams in Stratford.
Liam Byrne was inspired to take on some work experience at Sheldon Bosley Knight after a visit to his school’s careers fair.
At the event, at which we had a stand, he met Archie Benson from our rural team and Jenny Jackson from our commercial team who encouraged him to get in touch.
During his time at SBK, Liam, who has just completed his GCSEs, worked alongside the residential sales, lettings, commercial and planning teams.
He also took the opportunity to find out more about the firm, the work it does and see first hand what it’s like in a busy office.
He said: “I have really enjoyed attending property viewings – the properties themselves have been lovely to visit – and it has been informative to see what the process entails from start to finish as we have looked at what making an offer is like.
“It has also been eye-opening to gain insight into the letting process, including ASTs, rent reviews and new legislation like the Renters’ Rights Bill which will be significant for both tenants and landlords, among other things.
“Everyone I have worked with so far has been extremely kind and friendly which has made the experience even better.
“I’m not sure yet what career I would like in the future, but the experience has definitely improved my understanding of what it’s like to work in land and property and it’s something I would consider.”
Residential sales negotiator Isobel Massey said: “It’s been great to have Liam working with us this week. He’s been a real asset to the teams and we are so glad he’s been inspired to think about a career within our sector when he leaves university.”
Associate director and head of planning and architecture, Natasha Blackmore da Silva said: “Inspiring the next generation is something we are very keen on as there are so many exciting and interesting careers to be had within the land and property sector and within Sheldon Bosley Knight.
“Liam has been keen and quick to learn and a wonderful addition to the teams here in Stratford. We wish him all the best for his GCSE results, sixth form and beyond!”
