Three members of staff from our Shipston office are taking part in a 10K hike through the Cotswolds in aid of charity.
Starting in Moreton-in-Marsh on Saturday morning, lettings manager Sarah Scaysbrook, lettings support manager Alison Benfield and sales manager Amy Nicholson will be walking to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.
The trio have a target of at least £500 and are already over halfway there.
Setting off from the start point in Moreton-in-Marsh, the route will take them along the hills up to Bourton-on-the-Hill and Batsford Park. It then follows a cross-country loop over the Cotswold footpaths before finishing at the start point.
They hope to complete the route in about two and a half hours.
The fact cancer is now affecting one in two people in their lifetime was one of the main drivers for the team to take part. However, they also have personal reasons to do so.
Ali said: “My reason for doing the Big Hike is I lost my Mum just over five years ago to cancer. Unfortunately, she was not one of the lucky ones to have an early diagnosis and she died within four weeks of finding out.”
Sarah said: “I lost two of my grandparents to cancer, so the charity is close to my heart.
“Cancer Research UK is such a worthy cause and the work it does to find cures to help extend and save lives is incredible.
“The girls and I love getting involved in the local community and wanted to raise some money via a charitable event this year and this looked like the perfect opportunity.
“We are slightly nervous about the heat affecting energy levels on the day, but the organisers have brought the event forward by a couple of hours so hopefully we’ll be done before the temperature peaks in the early 30s!
“Hopefully we’ll meet our fundraising target, meet some lovely people and make memories along the way!”
