Calling all Rutland-based landowners and developers

Exciting news for Rutland-based landowners, Rutland County Council has reopened a ‘Call for Sites’, which will run until Friday 31 July 2026 at 4pm. The process aims to identify a supply of land which may be suitable, available and achievable for future housing and economic development.

Sites previously submitted through the 2022, 2023 or 2025 Call for Sites exercises, or via the current Local Plan process, will need to be resubmitted in order to be considered.

The Council is seeking sites of any size with potential for one or more of the following uses:

• Residential development (including market and affordable housing, self-build and specialist housing)
• Commercial development (including retail, industrial and office uses)
• Large-scale mixed-use development (such as urban extensions or new settlements)
• Infrastructure (including health and community facilities)
• Sites for gypsies, travellers and travelling show people

This exercise is unlikely to result in allocations within the current Local Plan, which is now at an advanced stage of examination. Instead, submissions will help inform future Local Plan preparation.

Landowners are encouraged to bring sites forward early to ensure they are properly promoted and considered as part of the next stage of plan-making.
