Fundraising reaches new heights

Next month, two intrepid members of Sheldon Bosley Knight’s planning and architecture team will be abseiling down one side of Coventry Cathedral for charity.

Putting any fear aside, the pair will be able to see Coventry from new heights as they walk the 90 feet down the side of the city’s beautiful cathedral.

Assistant planner Izzy Allford and associate director Natasha Blackmore da Silva, will take on the challenge on September 27 to raise money for Myton Hospice.

Natasha is a seasoned pro at this, with it being her fifth year taking part in the event in as many years, but for Izzy, it is a new experience.

She said: “I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little bit nervous, but I’m trying to play it cool!

“I have had some similar experience with heights as I did a 450ft bungy jump in New Zealand so I’m just trying to rationalise it with that.

“I’m taking part because I find Myton Hospice’s work truly inspiring. I think it is incredible they enable people to live out the end of their lives with dignity, comfort and most importantly surrounded by people who care for them.”

Natasha said: “Myton Hospice is a local charity providing specialist palliative care for people living with terminal illnesses across Coventry and Warwickshire.

“Their incredible team not only supports patients’ physical needs but also works tirelessly to meet their psychological, spiritual and emotional needs, while offering continued support to their families.”

The pair have an individual fundraising target of £200 each, but are aiming to raise a combined £500 for the charity.
