A sleigh of Santas will be dashing through Leamington later this month in aid of a local hospice.
The annual Myton Hospices Santa Dash event will see hundreds of Father Christmases, suitably attired, running, jogging or walking around the 5K course in Victoria Park.
Among those taking part in the event on Sunday, December 14, will be husband and wife duo, Andrew and Katie James, Claire Paginton, Ian Watson, Becky Jones, Norma Woodward and Sophie Higginson, all from Sheldon Bosley Knight’s Leamington offices.
All seven have different personal reasons for joining in the fun, but all will be remembering those who were cared for by the wonderful team at Myton Hospice whilst hoping to raise as much money as possible for the charity.
Just £68 could cover the cost of relatives’ accommodation so people can stay close to their loved ones over Christmas Day and Boxing Day. A patient’s meals for one week costs £126 and £158 could fund two children’s bereavement counselling sessions to help a young person who is facing their first Christmas without a loved one.
Katie said: “Four of us did the dash last year and it was a lot of fun. Some of us have direct connections with Myton Hospices through its care for friends or family so we wanted to do it again and encouraged other members of the team to get involved as well.
“It’s a wonderful way to come together as a community, raise some money and do our bit to support our local hospice this Christmas.”
The team is on target to raise £600 which is 1% of the charity’s £60,000 target.
As well as our team, the great man himself may even make an appearance to congratulate all those who take part and cross the finish line.
