Why move to Pershore?

Pershore is a pretty and historic market town in Worcestershire. It sits on the River Avon and is known for its Abbey, parts of which date back to the 11th century, its agriculture and horticulture college and plums!

Pershore is easy to get to with excellent road networks to allow accessibility to the rest of the county. Towns such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Tewkesbury, Evesham and Alcester as well as the North Cotswolds are also within easy reach. The Fosse Way, M50 and M5 are a short drive away allowing access to larger cities of Bristol, Birmingham and London and there are regular bus and train services via Moreton in Marsh, Evesham, Oxford and Didcot.

As well as these excellent transport links, Pershore sits in the glorious countryside making it easy to explore the great outdoors, especially the Malvern Hills.

Pershore is blessed with a number of schools that follow the three-tier first, middle and high school system which is popular in many of Worcestershire’s towns. There are more schools further afield in Worcester, Stratford and Evesham, offering a mix of private, grammar and state schools which are all within relatively easy commuting distance.

Sport plays a big part in the life of Pershore. There is both a men’s and women’s football team as well as a Cricket Club. Wychavon Kayak and Canoe Club is based at Pershore Riverside Centre and there are Bowls, Tennis and Athletics Clubs all of which are popular. Further afield there is horse racing at racecourses in Cheltenham, Stratford-upon-Avon, Tewkesbury, and Worcester, as well as golf at courses in Stratford, Bidford, and Welford. The Cotswold Riding at Stanton is popular, and there is indoor crazy golf in Cheltenham. For those who prefer the great outdoors, the beautiful countryside right on the doorstep provides plenty of opportunities for cycling, walking, and rambling especially with our four-legged friends.

Set in the Vale of Evesham, Pershore is a pretty market town steeped in history and heritage, with a lovely atmosphere and as such has much to offer. It is well known for its history of Morris Dancing and it also has a thriving community arts centre and theatre. Regular events include the annual Pershore Plum Festival, a classic car rally and the Pershore Carnival, all of which are hugely popular.

Within the town are pubs, a post office and some very popular cafes and restaurants as well as a covered market and general hospital.

The town is tranquil, relatively unspoiled and famed for its elegant Georgian architecture and many of the buildings are listed. Nevertheless, there is a smattering of properties that are more modern and consist of both flats, small houses and bungalows that sit alongside the grander, older period properties. Pershore is the perfect place to live if you want peace and quiet, community spirit and all the community events.

Given its beautiful location, excellent road links, good schools and wonderful community spirit, it’s little wonder Pershore is a popular place to live.

Pershore has a lovely high street with a mix of independent and specialist shops alongside businesses, a covered market and a supermarket. Pershore is also blessed with several well-regarded cafes, pubs and hotels as well as a post office and market. For larger stores and businesses, supermarkets and high street chains, Worcester, Tewkesbury, Stratford upon Avon, Cheltenham or Evesham are not too far away.
