Life on the open road

Forget bottles of champagne, flowers and chocolates, Sheldon Bosley Knight’s custodians, Mike Cleary and Dan Jackson, have come up with a more imaginative way to thank their staff.

The pair have bought a “home on wheels” for staff to hire out whenever they want.

The VW Campervan was unveiled at the annual SBK Fest, when our 250 employees and their families were invited to spend the day at Leamington Rugby Club and enjoy food, drink and lots of family-friendly activities.

Mike said: “Everyone has their ‘why’ and Dan and I are no different. Running a business in this economic and political environment is a real challenge… additional NICs took almost £250k pa out of our bottom line as we now have a team consisting of over 250 employees.

“We however will never lose sight of the fact that our staff are our business and it is equally tough for them too.

“We were delighted to buy a VW Campervan just for our staff and their families to use. Our ‘why’ is to reward our team for making the difference and we are really happy to be able to do this for them. Thank you team SBK.”

Mike and Dan have now challenged staff to use the campervan and document how far it travels – both home and abroad.

As well as the campervan, staff this year have been treated to a day out, of which options included an open air theatre show, go kart racing, tree top challenge, a day at Warwick races and a day at the cricket as well as SBK Fest which included activities such as table football, inflatables, a BBQ and DJ.
