Meet the team – Lisa Hunt

Lisa Hunt has recently joined Sheldon Bosley Knight as residential sales manager at our Stratford-upon-Avon branch. As well as being completely dedicated to her team and her job, she is a mum of two and is a passionate Blues fan of 35 years.

When she’s not at work or at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park watching her beloved team she can often be found out with her husband on his motorbike travelling the length and breadth of the country.

What is your role and what does your job entail?

I’m the new residential sales manager at Stratford-upon-Avon. There is never really a typical day, but every morning begins with a team meeting. There are three of us so we are a fairly small team and it’s important for me to make sure they, Hannah and Isobel, are equipped with all the resources they need for the day ahead. Following this, I visit clients’ properties for market appraisals, conduct viewings, deal with any issues that crop up throughout the day and help the team in any way they need.

What did you do before joining Sheldon Bosley Knight?

Directly before joining Sheldon Bosley Knight, I was a director at Maguire Jackson, an independent sales, lettings and commercial agent in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter for just under eight years. Before that I worked for Centrick in Solihull, Sotheby’s International (which later became Hamptons International) in Stratford-upon-Avon, Savills and Knight Frank in Birmingham city centre and Oulsnam & Co in Moseley. During this time I covered sales, lettings, commercial and new homes.

What was your route into the property industry

After working in retail for many years, I had my second child and wanted a career change. At the risk of sounding cheesy, property had always interested me and I liked the thought of being nosey and looking round people’s houses! So I applied for an administrator job at Oulsnam and the rest as they say is history.

What attracted you to working for Sheldon Bosley Knight?

Sheldon Bosley Knight had always had an excellent reputation when I worked in Stratford previously.

What’s the best bit about your job?

Most definitely the people – the clients and the team. However, I love it when you find the perfect house for someone and they fall in love with it and you help with the purchase. The sheer joy when they come to collect the keys is priceless!

What qualifications, skills, experience or training do you need to do this job?

There are no specific qualifications required however it is always useful to obtain them, if possible. A good agent needs to be dedicated, positive and knowledgeable regarding the market. You need to develop a thick skin sometimes but most important of all you need to be a people person, this job is all about people and you need to adapt to all walks of life and treat them like they are the most important person in the world at the time of dealing with them. The annual GDPR training and money laundering must also always be undertaken.

What motivates you to work hard?

The team and my family. I want the team to feel valued, so I try to work hard for them to be able to achieve their targets. For my family, I want them to be proud of me, so I work hard to ensure this.

Who or what inspires you?

My husband and two children, they are all amazing and inspire me every day to be a better person and to achieve my goals.

What are your career goals?

I have been very fortunate in my career to have worked for some fantastic companies and have met some amazing people and whilst yes there are still things I want to achieve, my main goal is to wake up every morning and look forward to coming to work as I know we are going to have a good day.

What do you do when you are not at work?

I have a husband and two grown up children and we spend a lot of time together socialising and going away for short breaks in the UK and abroad. I am an avid football fan and have supported Birmingham City Football Club for 35 years and go to as many games as possible throughout the season. My husband also rides a motorbike and we go away a lot for short breaks touring the country. We mainly go to north Devon as our favourite place is Croyde, but we have travelled to the Lake District and south Wales as well.

What is the best piece of career advice you have ever been given?

I once had a boss who always said, “I am here to help whenever you need it but don’t come to me with problems, come to me with solutions” and that has always stuck with me, so I try to take this approach, and it has worked for me so far.
