Meet the team – Patrick Wilson

Patrick Wilson has recently joined Sheldon Bosley Knight as senior sales negotiator at our Kineton branch. As well as being passionate about his job connecting people to the right homes, he is a big sports fan, particularly F1, rugby, cricket and football.

However, after having played tennis for many years, he has recently taken up a relatively unknown racket sport, padel – and he’s so good he’s started competing in tournaments!

What is your role and what does your job entail?

My role is all about connecting people with the right homes and guiding them through every stage of their property journey.

I work closely with both buyers and sellers – from valuing and listing properties to arranging and conducting viewings, handling negotiations and liaising with the sales progression team to ensure everything runs smoothly right through to completion.

A key part of my role is making sure sellers are regularly updated, particularly through timely feedback after viewings and every property is marketed to the highest standard, so it reaches the widest possible audience.

For buyers, I manage their journey from the first enquiry through to collecting keys, offering clear advice and support at every step.

One aspect of being an estate agent you quickly learn, is that no two days are ever the same, which I love! However, a typical day might start with a morning meeting with the team, following up on enquires and booking viewings, before heading out to meet clients, conduct market appraisals, show prospective buyers around properties and provide honest advice on the market.

Back in the office, I spend time updating clients, negotiating offers, catching up with feedback and liaising with the sales progression team.

What did you do before joining Sheldon Bosley Knight?

I worked as a Senior Sales Negotiator for an independent estate agency based in Oxfordshire. I was there for two and a half years.

How did you get into the property industry and how long have you worked within it?

I first got into the property industry because it felt like such a natural fit for me. I’ve always been a people person and enjoyed working in sales, and with family already involved in property, it was an industry I’d grown up around and understood well.

Once I finished my A levels, I got my first job working for a large corporate estate agency as a trainee sales negotiator and I have not looked back since. Estate agency gave me the chance to build relationships, help people through important life decisions and work in a sector I’ve always found exciting. I have been working in the property industry for three and a half years now and look forward to a long career in it!

What attracted you to working for Sheldon Bosley Knight?

What really attracted me to working for Sheldon Bosley Knight is the fact it’s a truly independent estate agency with a fantastic reputation across Warwickshire and the Cotswolds. I was drawn to the opportunity to represent such a brand in some of the region’s most desirable areas.

What’s the best bit about your job?

What I love about my job is building relationships and helping people make one of the biggest decisions of their lives. It’s incredibly rewarding to see a sale through from the very first viewing to handing over the keys, knowing I’ve played a part in helping someone start the next chapter in their lives.

What qualifications or training do you need to do this job?

There are no specific qualifications you need to have for this job, but you can work towards your NAEA qualifications which I intend to do during my time at Sheldon Bosley Knight. We also have regular training such as anti-money laundering and anti-bribery courses.

What motivates you to work hard?

I am motivated by achieving great results while making a positive difference for people. I know my clients rely on me to get the best outcome and I take pride in working hard to deliver that.

Who or what inspires you?

My family inspires me. I have seen how hard they have worked and I want to be the same and to make them proud of not only my career and achievements but also the impact I have on the local community.

What are your career goals?

I would like to make the Kineton office as successful as possible and grow a team here.

What do you do when you are not at work?

I am very big into my sport, both playing and watching. Recently, I have been playing Padel once or twice a week and competing in tournaments! At the weekend, you will find me watching F1, Rugby, Cricket or Football. I also like to spend time with my family and friends.

What is the best piece of career advice you have ever been given?

The best career advice I’ve received is to always listen more than you speak. My manager at the time told me that by really understanding what clients need, whether they’re buying or selling, you can give them the right guidance and build lasting relationships based on trust. My manager also said property is about people as much as homes and keeping that at the heart of what you do makes all the difference.

And finally……

The landlord of the office I worked in when I was based in Oxford, was Martin Keown. As a big football fan, I was a bit star struck the first time I met him, only for him to have a conversation with me about putting the bins out…!
