SBK sponsors Leamington’s Lauren Cox ahead of World Aquatic Championships in Japan

Lauren Cox was three years old when she first went swimming. Now 21 she has been selected for Team GB’s swim squad at the World Aquatic Championships in Japan in July.
Lauren, who grew up in Leamington and is also studying Geography and Sports Science at Loughborough University, said she was “thrilled and delighted” to be part of the 29-strong squad. She was chosen following a very successful performance at this year’s British Swimming Championships in which she won gold in the 50m backstroke and came second in the 100m race.
Named by Team England as one of the most promising swimmers in the country, and specialising in backstroke, Lauren has previously represented Great Britain at the European Junior Championship and the Commonwealth Games, picking up medals in both competitions.
All of us at Sheldon Bosley Knight (SBK) have special reason to cheer her on as we are one of her sponsors.
Lauren said: “I’m so grateful to Sheldon Bosley Knight for the sponsorship which will enable me to go to Turkey to train for two weeks alongside the very best swimmers in the world in preparation for Japan.
“I’ve known Mike Cleary (SBK owner) for a long time and he’s always been very supportive of my career. Getting sponsorship is crucial to enable athletes to train and compete at the highest level so SBK’s support is fantastic.
“I’m very nervous but absolutely delighted to be going to Japan for the World Championships and going to Turkey will really help my training.”
Mike said: “SBK has a proud history of supporting local teams and individuals and so I am delighted we are able to sponsor Lauren. She’s a shining example of how hard work, focus and commitment can reap great rewards.
“All of us at SBK wish her the very best of luck and will be cheering her on when she goes to Japan and hopefully she will come back with some medals.”
The World Aquatic Championships will be held at Japan’s Marine Messe Fukuoka between July 23 and 30.
