Our custodian Dan Jackson is a man of many talents!
This weekend he wowed Dumbleton Cricket Club (DCC) showing the team and its supporters he can cook.
Donning his chef’s hat he whipped up a three-course meal of slow roasted lamb shoulder with garlic and rosemary, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, red cabbage, buttered carrots, broccoli and gravy.
Dessert consisted of bread and butter pudding and treacle tart with cheese and biscuits to finish.
The event was to raise funds for the club to keep it running over the winter months ahead of the forthcoming summer season.
Dan said: “Cricket is close to my heart, having played at school, and I am a committee member of the club, so supporting DCC is a no brainer.
“I also live with my family in the village and Sheldon Bosley Knight (SBK) sponsors the team so DCC is very important to me.
“I love cooking so this was a really good way for me to help raise some vital funds for the club which is growing as we get more young people coming through.
“The team at SBK recently got planning permission for the club for a second ground, which I’m also involved with and which is very exciting.”
DCC president Vernon Powell said: “I’d like to reiterate my thanks for the excellent meal you prepared. It really was top class and without exception it was enjoyed by everyone.
“In addition, thanks to help from Geoff and Nick and everyone who donated raffle prizes, the club has benefited by more than £1,000 from the three lunches held this winter.”
