Team work in action at Castle Farm

Two of Sheldon Bosley Knight’s teams were in action this week at an event in which they demonstrated how they work collaboratively for their clients.

Organised by the Royal Agricultural University as part of its Farm Walks series, and attended by farmers, alumni and students, it took place at Castle Farm in Studley, Warwickshire.

Members of our rural and planning and architecture teams were on hand to discuss an on-going project there which aims to convert the listed barns into 14 homes.

Head of planning Natasha Blackmore da Silva and senior architectural technician, Charlie Cartwright, led the discussion about the proposals, challenges to consider and their designs for the scheme.

Graduate rural surveyor, Archie Benson spoke about countryside stewardship and farming grants as well as support and advice the rural team offers their farming and landowning clients.

They also answered questions on planning potential for farms more generally including diversifying when facing the challenges of climate change and the changing agricultural landscape.

Natasha said: “We always love the opportunity to speak in-person about our on-going projects and learn from other experts who have a different perspective on farm diversification.

“Thank you to the RAU and the Walters family for inviting us to speak.”

Archie said: “Events such as these are very positive ways to illustrate how our teams can and do work together on a wide variety of schemes.

“It was also a great opportunity to discuss topics which are of interest and concern to farmers such as rights of way, shooting and fishing lodges, farming operations, the Sustainable Farming Incentive and farm diversification, and offer solutions.”
