On June 25th 2019 the Planning & Architecture Department at Sheldon Bosley Knight received planning consent for the erection of 4 dwellings on a site of former garages in Stratford upon Avon.
The site had recently been featured in the Stratford Herald after local residents raised concerns that the dilapidated garages, which were boarded up and covered in graffiti, were becoming a hub for antisocial behaviour and drug taking and that the Council, by refusing a previous application to redevelop the site in 2017, were obstructing progress and exacerbating this issue.
Sheldon Bosley Knight were tasked with preparing a revised scheme in response to the similar 2017 application for 5 units on the site. The new scheme included 4 units; three 3-bedroom and one 2-bedroom, which were a mixture of semi-detached and detached properties.
Previously the Council had been concerned that adequate garden space could not be achieved for each of the proposed dwellings. We re-designed the layout of the scheme to give each proposed dwelling a garden area well in excess of the Council’s guidelines thereby removing the only reason for refusal.
Working closely with Stratford on Avon District Council we created a scheme that was policy compliant and made the best use of the site. There were no objections to the scheme and it was approved under Delegated Powers.

Shipston-on-Stour is renowned for a number of annual events and festivals, notably the Shipston Proms music fortnight, which this year reached its 21st year anniversary.
Sheldon Bosley Knight has been a regular supporter of the Proms and were delighted to sign up again this year as a Gold Sponsor. Our sponsored event for 2019 was the Fame Contest, a regular feature of the Proms that provides local young people the opportunity to showcase their musical talent.
As ever, the standard of entrants was very high with the Judges eventually selecting Kathryn Packer as the winning soloist and The Shipston High Jazz Band (which also features Kathryn on vocals and piano) in the band category.
We would like to congratulate the Proms Committee for another fantastic fortnight of musical events and look forward to supporting again in 2020.
Two creative ladies from our Shipston office prepared a beautiful flower arrangement for the Shipston-on-Stour Flower Festival during May.
Hosted at St Edmund’s Church, the Festival is an integral part of the Shipston Wool Fair held each year during the May Bank Holiday weekend.
The theme for this year’s festival was Wedding Dresses and featured an exhibition of bridal gowns from the Victorian Era to present day.
Liz Smith and Kate Billing from our sales team created this beautiful arrangement between them which included vintage roses in cream and a delicate mauve.
Sheldon Bosley Knight were again thrilled to sponsor this hugely successful series of Literary Events featuring a wide variety of personalities and genres of writing.
Audiences were enthralled by a wonderful line-up of famous faces including Sir Michael Parkinson, Jodi Picoult & John Simpson.
Stratford Literary Festival is a registered charity and works with schools, undertakes projects in the community and also takes workshops into prisons to help residents write bedtime stories to their children.
Members of the Sheldon Bosley Knight Residential Sales & Lettings Teams received a very warm welcome from the children and staff at both Acorns Primary School, Long Compton and Brailes Primary School, where they were attending assemblies recently for the prize giving of SBK’s ‘Design an Easter Egg’ Competition.
Liz Smith of the Shipston Sales Team said “there were so many lovely pictures to choose from we had a very difficult decision to make but our congratulations go to Edith Ledbury, age 8 who was placed first and runner up Lola Rutherford, age 6.”
Sue Maaz and Helen Cherry from the Residential Lettings team at Shipston visited Brailes School and were equally impressed with the effort the children had gone to.
The winner, Scarlett Kenna age 4 and runner-up Oliver Bayliss age 5, both received a National Book token and Easter egg.
SBK thank all the children who took part in the competition and wish you all a very Happy Easter!
Eggs, eggs and more eggs!
Representatives from Sheldon Bosley Residential Sales teams were delighted to attend Footsteps Nursery in Stratford to present prizes for their recent Easter Competition.
The children were encouraged to design their own Easter Egg and there were some very whacky entries indeed – Tracy Emin would be very impressed!
A big thank you to all of the young artists who took part in the competition!
