Jenny goes the extra mile to raise funds for cancer charity

One of Sheldon Bosley Knight’s (SBK) surveyors is celebrating today after taking part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon and raising vital funds for charity.
Jenny Jackson completed the 13.1-mile course on Sunday in two hours and 55 minutes raising a fabulous £1,230 and counting for Cancer Research UK.
Jenny, an apprentice surveyor within SBK’s commercial team, was inspired by her uncle who was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in 2018.
She said: “Despite the low odds he was able to beat the cancer thanks to all the doctors, nurses and researchers. Unfortunately, late in 2022 he was given the news no one wanted to hear ‘it’s back and its terminal’.
“When I asked my uncle what he would like for Christmas he said he would like to raise money for Cancer Research UK so no one else will ever have to hear those words again.
“He is my inspiration so after six years away from sport I started training in January for my first ever running event.
“I am so proud as every bit of money will help the charity and my time was a personal best for me. Thank you to everyone for all your support – it means so much to us all.”
Cancer Research UK is the world’s largest independent cancer research organisation. Its ambition is to accelerate progress and see three in four patients surviving the disease by 2034.
