Sheldon Bosley Knight celebrates successful sale of popular Stratford diner

Sheldon Bosley Knight’s (SBK) commercial department is celebrating after successfully negotiating the sale of a popular Stratford café trailer unit.

Mal’s Diner has been serving delicious sandwiches, snacks and hot and cold drinks at the Avenue Farm industrial estate for 31 years.

However with the owners wanting to retire, they chose SBK to handle the sale of the business.

With an asking price of £35,000, and located in a prime spot on this busy industrial estate, the café was on the market for just a few weeks before it was sold.

SBK’s senior commercial agent Steve Bell said: “I am delighted with the sale of this turnkey business as it is a great café with a fantastic history.

“Mal’s Diner benefits from being extremely popular with a loyal customer base, as well as being in a great location, not to mention having a sound set of accounts and it offered the right buyer a great opportunity.

“As ever, it was important to ensure I knew the ins and outs of the business before it went to market so a meeting with the owner to discuss this was essential.

“From this I made a bespoke marketing plan to present Mal’s Diner in the best way and within a matter of weeks there were a number of interested buyers who came forward.

“As with the sale of every business I deal with it is important to get the right buyer and creating a marketing plan which is catered to the individual is all-important.”

Mal Hallows said: “Thank you so much to Steve for the efficient way he and Sheldon Bosley Knight handled the sale of our business taking all the stress away and dealing with the completion.

“After 30 years trading I can now finally retire!”

New owner Jane Cole said: “After 31 years of Mal’s Diner, Mal and Rose have both taken well-earned retirement and we are very excited to start our new venture as Jane’s Diner.

“We will continue to serve the menu which everyone loves adding a few new specials soon.

“We would like to thank Steve Bell at Sheldon Bosley Knight for all his help from start to take over as it all went very smoothly.”
