The Worcestershire town of Pershore has long been associated with plums. The Pershore Yellow Egg Plum was found growing in Tiddesley Wood in the 19th century and fruit growing in general in the area dates back to medieval times.
These days this summer fruit is celebrated throughout the month of August with its Plum Festival, culminating in the bank holiday weekend with five days of merriment and entertainment.
The event, which last year celebrated its silver jubilee, is the highlight of the town’s calendar, regularly attracting upwards of 50,000 visitors and Sheldon Bosley Knight is delighted once again to be one of its sponsors.
Amongst the many free events and activities is its Bike Nite which, as its name suggests, features a host of motorcycles and enthusiasts from across the region. Live music, food and beer will be the order of the evening.
Elsewhere there will be a Quiz Night, street food, cooking and gardening demos, a cider festival, open air cinema, family fun day, Plum Pooches dog show, classic cars and the Plum Fayre and Farmers Market.
Pershore lettings manager Natalie O’Sullivan says this year will be a fun and fruity affair.
She said: “Sheldon Bosley Knight has been supporting this event for a few years now and we are always delighted to do so.
“The Festival organisers always pull out all the stops and this year has been no exception. There is so much happening and something for all the family to enjoy so I’d encourage everyone to come along and join in the fun.”
The Pershore Plum Festival runs throughout the month culminating in the Big Plum Weekend between August 25 and 26. Visit www.pershoreplumfestival.org.uk for a full line up.
