Evesham is a small town with a big heart and is considered to be one of the nicest places to live in Worcestershire.  

Steeped in history, the town was established around an 8th century Abbey, one of the largest in Europe and which was founded by Saint Egwin, the third Bishop of Worcester around 701AD. The abbey was redeveloped and extended after the Norman Conquest employing many tradesmen and significantly contributing to the growth of the town. 

Although it was destroyed during the Dissolution of the Monasteries, Abbot Lichfield’s Bell Tower remains.  The remains of the Abbey have scheduled ancient monument status with some parts listed by English Heritage. 

These days it is a thriving and picturesque riverside market town in the famous horticultural Vale of Evesham, also knowns as the fruit and vegetable basket of England.   

It also is a fantastic place to live, with a strong sense of community, excellent schools and all surrounded by stunning Worcestershire countryside. 

This historic town may be small but it features a diverse selection of shops and businesses, including both independent and national companies. Cafes, barbers, shops and restaurants nestle alongside a range of businesses in town.  

We also love that there is something for everyone here. Culturally it boasts a fabulous art deco style cinema, the Henrician Evesham, a 312-seat venue for all manner of cultural events including theatre and concerts, a museum, library and sport and leisure centre. 

The beautiful countryside on the doorstep provides a wealth of opportunities for walking and the river that runs through the town enables people to go kayaking and canoeing. 

And finally we love that some notable people were born in Evesham, including impressionist Alistair McGowan, songwriter and founding member of Traffic, Jim Capaldi and double Olympic gold medal winning rower Alex Gregory.
