Meet the team – Rob Conacher

Rob joined Sheldon Bosley Knight 18 months ago and quickly made his mark, using his design prowess to oversee a rebrand of the company and becoming an integral part of the marketing department. When he’s not working he loves music, going to gigs and holidaying with his family, preferably somewhere in Greece! Just don’t mention the word Canva…..

What is your Sheldon Bosley Knight job title and where are you based?

I’m graphic designer, based in the marketing office in Leamington Spa.

What is your role and what does it entail?

Designing everything visual for Sheldon Bosley Knight, from business cards and social media posts, through to brochures, guides and signage. I also project manage the print runs. A typical day is working on campaigns we have planned through to more reactive jobs of properties we would like to market through our social media channels. Every day is different and keeps me on my toes.

What did you do before this job?

I was designer/studio manager at a printers in Birmingham for 25 years.

How did you get into your chosen career and how long have you worked within it?

I’ve always been into art and from an early age wanted to do something with it. One of my parent’s friends suggested being a graphic designer, and 30 years later here I still am.

What attracted you to working for Sheldon Bosley Knight?

I wanted a change, so I applied to Sheldon Bosley Knight and at interview stage it became apparent the company’s whole ethos and values were what I was looking for. I was therefore really happy when I was selected and became part of a great team/company.

What’s the best bit about your job?

Our team and the people within the whole company as they’re a great bunch to work with.

What qualifications or training do you need to do this job?

College and university qualifications help, but studio experience on live jobs is the main unofficial qualification as this hones your eye for what looks good, what works and what clients need.

What motivates you to work hard?

Life. To me that’s what you should do when you come to work and in life and fingers crossed you reap the rewards for your hard work.

Who or what inspires you?

It’s going to sound cliché but my family.

What are your career goals?

To carry on enjoying my role here at Sheldon Bosley Knight and deliver to the best of my abilities.

What do you do when you are not at work?

Music! I love going to gigs and there’s always music playing in some form in our house. I also love camping with my family and friends in the Forest of Dean. Socialising and holidaying and DIY, though that’s more of a necessity rather than a hobby at the moment!

What is the best piece of career advice you have ever been given?

Not so much career advice but life in general from my dad, “treat others as you wish to be treated yourself”.
