The Sheldon Bosley Knight team has grown again with the arrival of Alan Metcalfe who joins as residential sales manager in our Pershore office. Alan has worked in the sector for more than 30 years and brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge. Welcome Alan!
What is your role at SBK and where are you based?
I am the residential sales manager at our Pershore office.
What does your job entail? Is there a typical day?
My role entails general day-to-day office duties, managing the team here and carrying out the majority of the market appraisals.
What did you do before this job? Which company were you at and how long were you there?
I have been an estate agent for 32 years. The last four and a half years I have had my own estate agency business in Worcester.
How did you get into the property industry and how long have you worked within it?
I got into the industry by sheer fluke. I needed a job at 21 and it looked like something I should try. I have loved it ever since! I started on April 4, 1991 and 32 years later, I still love it.
What attracted you to working for SBK?
I liked the prominent office in Pershore and I have worked with James Morton (SBK’s head of residential sales and marketing) briefly previously. The company also looked like a good fit for me.
What’s the best bit about your job?
The people, both those I work with and dealing with the public – most of the time!
What qualifications or training do you need to do this job?
None, you just need to be a people person, willing to put the hours in and get your head down.
What are your career goals?
To run a successful office, earn a good salary and be the best agent I can be in Pershore.
What is the best piece of career advice you have ever been given?
Don’t worry about the money, do the job right, first time, do as you say you will do and the money will come!
