We are delighted to say that Nikki successfully completed the marathon in 4 hours, 40 minutes, an incredible achievement in itself, but she also exceeded her target and raised a total of £3,245.84. A fantastic result and we are all very proud of her.
Nikki said afterwards, “I am very pleased with my time considering I had a slight pull in my calf muscle the week before. I was struggling around the 16 mile point but seeing my family cheering me along the route spurred me on to the end.
I am thrilled to have hit my target and more, and would like to thank everyone for their generous support and donations.”
Nikki won’t be hanging up her running shoes any time soon, a little bird tells us that she is considering applying for next year. Watch this space!
Nikki Evis, Property Manager at our Stratford office, is busy training for the London Marathon in April to raise funds for St Richard’s Hospice, Worcester in memory of her Grandfather.
Having only taken up running seriously four years ago, Nikki has been lucky enough to secure a Gold Band place in the Marathon and has been running throughout the winter months in preparation for the big day on Sunday 28th April. She has also been very busy raising funds to reach her target of £2,500.
Nikki launched her fundraising in December with a Christmas Hamper Raffle that was generously supported by her colleagues at Sheldon Bosley Knight as well as a separate draw for a home-made Christmas cake and champagne.
She has reached 50% of her target and is now organising a ceilidh at The Bengeworth Club in Evesham on 30th March. Tickets are £15 and will include live music from the award winning “The Burdock Band” and a caller to help with the dances and food.
A licensed bar will be available, along with a raffle which includes lots of locally sourced prizes. The event is open to everyone and promises to be a great evening full of foot-stomping music, fun and laughter and is guaranteed to have you up and dancing, even if you have two left feet!
Nikki Evis, Property Manager at our Stratford office, has secured a Gold Band Charity place at next year’s London Marathon. This is a dream come true for Nikki who is a keen runner, having had 3 failed attempts to enter previously via the Marathon ballot system. She is over the moon that she will be taking part whilst also raising funds for her chosen charity, St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester. The Hospice provides invaluable care and support for individuals and their families who are dealing with life-limiting conditions in the South Worcestershire area.
Nikki launched her fundraising efforts with a charity Christmas Hamper raffle in the SBK-TLG offices and staff members were invited to donate items for a hamper. In fact, so many delicious items were given that they were able to create not one but four hampers with additional separate prizes as well, so there were six lucky winners. Staff were again generous in buying raffle tickets and a total of £129 was raised. A further £82 was raised in a separate draw for a Christmas Cake and bottle of champagne. The cake was kindly donated by the mother (a Star Baker!) of Ali Hancocks in the Evesham office and the lucky winner was Annie from our Stratford office.
Nikki is delighted with the generosity and enthusiasm from her colleagues and would like to thank everyone who donated and/or bought tickets. She said “It has been a great way to start my fundraising and I really appreciate all the support.”
Nikki’s goal is to raise £2,500 by the end of April and has set up a JustGiving page. Please click through if you would like to donate and help her reach her target: https://www.justgiving.com/Nicola-Evis3.
SBK-TLG would like to wish Nikki all the best in her fundraising and training efforts over the coming months and we will post an update in due course.
