Evesham is our happy place

Evesham has been voted one of the happiest places to live in the UK.

The list compiled by The Guardian newspaper put the Worcestershire market town at number two just behind Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Evesham was praised for its “rural charm”, “dozens of pick-your-own fruit and veg fields in summer” and “beautiful scenery on its doorstep”.

It also referenced its claim to fame: “What could be a happier existence than living in the asparagus capital of the UK?

“In Evesham you can eat the vegetable to your heart’s content, especially during the British Asparagus festival which the town hosts every year from late April.”

Elsewhere it pointed to how family friendly it is, its good schools, festivals and how it provides “a more tranquil existence than the bigger cities many people in the town commute into”.

It added: “You’ll find lots of Georgian and Tudor architecture, pretty parks and family-friendly events – there are medieval re-enactments and an annual food and music festival.”

Sheldon Bosley Knight’s senior lettings manager Josh Jones said: “It’s no surprise to us Evesham has been named one of the happiest places to live.

“With its beautiful riverside setting, strong community spirit and excellent access to the Cotswolds and wider region, it offers a wonderful quality of life.

“There’s also a wide range of property styles available to suit most budgets—whether you’re looking to buy or rent.

“If you’re thinking of selling, renting, or making a move to the area, we’d love to help—just get in touch!”
