Why move to Stratford-upon-Avon?

Stratford-upon-Avon is an historic and pretty market town in Warwickshire, considered to be one of the greatest places in which to live. If you’re looking for an area that’s wonderful for families, with access to plenty of sports and leisure facilities as well as offering excellent schools, a move to Stratford-upon-Avon could be the right choice for you and your family.

Boats on the river

Stratford-upon-Avon is situated on the outskirts of the Cotswolds to the south of Birmingham and Coventry to the north, this provides not only beautiful scenery but is also within commutable distance from the surrounding villages and inner cities, thanks to good road connectivity through the M40 and the A40. Stratford is a vibrant cultural centre with a wealth of services.

Stratford-upon-Avon has been made famous as the birthplace of William Shakespeare, arguably the world’s greatest poet and playwright. It’s no surprise then there are several buildings and statues dedicated to him including the Birthplace on Henley Street, the Birthplace Trust, New Place and of course the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in which people can go on backstage tours as well as see a show. Elsewhere in the town there are several high-quality restaurants, pubs and cafes as well as the hugely popular MAD Museum in Henley Street, the Bancroft Gardens outside the theatre and the River Avon which goes through the town. The Welcombe Hills, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Mary Arden’s Farm are just outside the town.

There are public, private and grammar schools in Stratford to meet the needs of students of all ages, making the town and its near surroundings, particularly popular with families with children growing up.

In the area, it includes horse racing tracks at Cheltenham, Stratford-upon-Avon, Avon Warwickshire, West Midlands, and Worcester, as well as golf courses in Stratford, Bidford, Welford, and Chipping Campden, among other places.

Stratford-upon-Avon is a welcoming and friendly town with a strong sense of community, and it’s no wonder people love living and working here.

When it comes to property, this beautiful town has something for everyone. From magnificent period houses, some timber-framed, to custom new-build homes, apartments to terraced houses, both right in the centre of town or a little further out, it has it all.

Over the past 20 years, the town has grown considerably but still retains its identity and has easy access to beautiful countryside around it.

This historic town features a diverse selection of shops, including both independent and national chains. Opticians, chemists (including Boots), a post office, supermarkets (including Waitrose and Marks & Spencer), and more specialised stores can all be found in the town centre. There is also an out of town centre which has some of the larger stores and a thriving market in Rother Street.
